Một số idioms phổ biến trong IELTS Speaking

1. Leave No Stone Unturned

Example:
“When I apply for this scholarship, I left no stone unturned to gain my goal.”
” We promise to find your stolen car. We’ll leave no stone unturned
2. Not Lose Sleep Over
Example:
“I have studied very hard so that I will not lose sleep over a result of the test.”
“Jack does not lose sleep over what you think about him, he just focuses on his target and tries to achieve it.”

3. Go Out Like A Light
Example:
“After a long working day, I came home and went out like a light as soon as possible.”
“Some elderly people cannot go out like a light like children, they have been suffered from insomnia.”
4. The Silent Majority
Example:
“It is regrettable that nowadays, more and more young people are becoming the silent majority in policy .”
“U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump likes to talk about the silent majority.”
5. Stuck In A Rut
Example:
“I’m really stuck in a rut in this job. I think I’ll look for something new.”
“Since Rose divorced her husband, she has been being stuck in a rut.
6. Have Egg On Your Face
Example:
“I had egg on my face because of all the stupid things that I did when I was drunk last night.”
“If you don’t stop shouting angrily at your colleagues, you definitely have egg on your face. “
7. Be Your Bread And Butter
Example:
“Actually, working as an accountant is my bread and butter although I don’t love it very much. I like to be a dancer.”
“Nowadays, the university graduates feel difficult to find their bread and butter because the labour market is so harshly competitive. “
8. On A Knife Edge
Example:
“I’ve put myself on a knife edge when I forgot the calculator in the business management qualification test, which involved a lot of calculations.”
“These underprivileged families have to live on a knife edge because their houses are demolished by the storm.”
9. Let Yourself Go
Example:
“Sam has really let himself go since his wife died.”
“It is understandable that let yourself go when you’ve had small kids.”
10. To See Eye To Eye
Example:
” They need to see eye to eye before they do business together.”
“We see eye to eye. That’s why we are friends.”

” My father and I don’t see eye to eye in music.”
